JAVA

Java is a programming language. With regards to the Internet, it is used for writing programmes that can download to the user's machine risk-free. They can be run immediately without the fear of a virus infection.

Small programmes in Jave are called Applets and when the are used in websites, they add special functionality to it, like animation, calculators and other interesting applications. Java was created by Sun Microsystems and can run on any platform (Mac, PC, UNIX etc.) as long as it has a Java Interpreter. Modern browsers can usually run Java.

Java applets have a great advantage. If they are well programmed they are powerful and fun. You can find some games written in Java on the web.
